Bacolod Ride Home Turns Deadly in Maundy Thursday Hit
Bacolod shooting
A 29-year-old woman in Bacolod City was shot dead on Maundy Thursday while riding a tricycle on her way home, in a killing that police believe may be tied to her alleged role as an informant.
Police identified the victim only as Bebe. According to Police Capt. Rosalino Pugoy Jr. of Police Station 3, two suspects riding a motorcycle approached and shot her in the back before fleeing the scene.
She was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Investigators said the victim had no prior police record, although a family member had previously been jailed in connection with a drug-related case.
Authorities are now looking at the possibility that she was targeted because she was allegedly helping police in the anti-illegal drugs campaign. Iyon ang isa sa pangunahing angles na tinitingnan habang nagpapatuloy ang follow-up investigation.
As of now, police are still working to establish the exact motive and identify the gunmen. The case adds another layer of tension to Bacolod’s local peace-and-order situation during the Holy Week period.
